Background

Tarmac are the UK’s leaders in sustainable construction materials, road contracting and building products.

Challenge

There was an existing analogue system in place which had been installed approximately 15 years ago. This system was very outdated, causing poor image quality and frequent break downs. We therefore recommended a full upgrade to the client. The main challenge we faced when completing the install was working safely around a live road loading facility.

Solution

Firstly, DSSL engineers removed the old, existing hardware at the site and disposed of this appropriately. We then installed new cabling in the locations that this was required.

The engineers then began the installation of network switches and transmission equipment along with ethernet twisted pair converters.

It was then time to install the cameras and recording equipment which consisted of 4 HD PTZ cameras, 12 fixed HD cameras and a 32 camera input network video recorder with a 24TB internal hard disk drive. This project took us 3 weeks to complete from start to finish.
