Swale Borough Council
Swale Borough Council
Background
Swale is a local government district in Kent. There are four towns in the borough: Sittingbourne, Faversham, Sheerness, and Queenborough.
Challenge
95% of Swale Borough Council’s existing system was outdated and producing poor quality images. The running of the system was costly with cameras being transmitted by independent BT fibre connections and control room CCTV operations being outsourced.
Solution
At tender award, DSSL Group’s designated project manager was deployed to confirm the final pieces of the design. Engineers installed over 50 HD Indigo Vision PTZ cameras across Sittingbourne, Faversham, Sheerness, and Minster. In addition, 3 CCTV cameras were also installed into two railway stations. The cameras were transmitted over a Silvernet wireless network, supplied and installed by DSSL.
DSSL Group also worked closely with Thinking Space, a company that specialises in control room furnishing. This allowed us to provide a modern control room solution in Sittingbourne town that serves all public space CCTV across the borough of Swale.
In addition, DSSL Group also added additional CCTV to the new regeneration area of Sittingbourne town. In order to keep the system unified, we used Indigo Vision PTZ’s and Silvernet wifi.
Benefits
- Reduced cost on BT charges.
- Modernised control room.
- High definition images.
- Potential for future expansion.
