Background

Stolthaven Dagenham is ISO 9001 certified and a COMAH top-tier bulk liquid storage terminal, located on the River Thames.

Challenge

Due to the ongoing threat from possible terrorist attacks, Stolthaven Dagenham’s security system was in need of a full upgrade. CVSS engineers had the challenge of installing a new site-wide fibre optic network whilst still allowing the site to be fully operational. In addition to this, there was the added danger of working within a hazardous area and installing cameras over water.

Solution

CVSS upgraded the existing security system and networking infrastructure which consisted of HD CCTV, access control, ANPR and intercom. The site consisted of over 100 HD cameras, including 8 explosion ATEX rated cameras (intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres) to be installed over the jetty.

CVSS engineers then installed access control and intercom systems across the main buildings around the site, restricting unauthorised access. In addition to this, ANPR was installed around the site to control the access of staff and visitors entering and exiting the area. We also installed a purpose-built control room where on-site security is able to monitor CCTV 24/7.
