Challenge

Hillingdon Civic Centre required full CCTV coverage for the new Uxbridge Library and Registrars. The system needed to monitor all seating areas, reception desks, and public spaces, while also being fully compatible with the existing Genetec CCTV platform.
A key challenge was the short notice for the library installation, which meant our engineers had to work multiple night shifts to meet contractor deadlines and ensure the project was completed without delaying the centre’s opening.

Solution

Our team carried out a detailed site survey to understand the client’s needs, then designed a CCTV system that seamlessly integrated with their existing Genetec solution.Installation was carefully phased to align with construction schedules — including running Cat5e cabling before ceilings were fitted, and returning after hours to fit cameras once the library was completed.The final system included a Genetec Streamvault server, PoE switches, and 30 Hanwha IP Dome Cameras, all configured, tested, and linked back into the Civic Centre’s control room for centralised monitoring.

Benefit

The completed system delivers enhanced safety and reassurance for both staff and visitors. The extensive CCTV coverage acts as a visible deterrent to anti-social behaviour, which had been a concern at the previous site, while also reducing the need for on-site security staff.
With all activity now monitored live in the control room, the Civic Centre benefits from 24/7 oversight, ensuring a safer, more secure environment for the public.
